Principal's Message

Trentwood Families,

Wow, spring is really blooming and cruising along. We are officially starting our SBA testing this week. If your child is participating in the tests, please ensure they get a good night's sleep beforehand. We've sent home a separate letter detailing everything you need to know for each grade level involved in testing, so be sure to check it out if you haven't already.

Spring time is full of exciting events to celebrate the culmination of a wonderful school year. We have a lot going on this Spring: kindergarten graduation, 6th grade promotion, 3rd Trimester Awards Assembly, our annual Tiger Trot, Field Day, several classes are taking field trips, and several smaller PBIS celebrations.

As the weather starts to warm up, let's kindly remind ourselves and our little ones about our dress code guidelines: no exposed midriffs, underwear, or cleavage, please. And as always, let's keep our clothing choices positive, with nothing promoting drugs, alcohol, or containing profanity. For a refresher on our dress code policy, please refer to the student handbook. If you have any questions about this, feel free to reach out to me anytime.

Also, the end of the day release has a tendency to be chaotic with busses, walkers, parent parking and pickup, so we would love your support to help us ensure that students are being safe. Students should not be running in the front of the building, climbing on rocks, or riding bikes or scooters through the crowded area.

As always, thank you parents and guardians for your continued support. Please reach out to your children’s teachers or staff if you have any questions or concerns.

Principal Assistant Message

Trentwood Families,

Staying Strong This Spring – The Importance of Attendance

As we step into the final stretch of the school year, we want to take a moment to highlight how important these Spring months are for your student’s learning and growth. This is a time when students are building on everything they've learned so far, preparing for end-of-year projects and assessments, and continuing to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

We know Spring can bring a mix of busy schedules, travel plans, and a touch of “spring fever,” but consistent attendance is one of the most powerful ways to support your child’s success. Every day matters — and each day in class builds toward a strong finish for the year.

Here are a few tips to help avoid the “Spring slump” in attendance:

  • Keep routines steady – Keeping consistent bedtimes and morning routines helps students feel rested and ready to learn.

  • Schedule appointments wisely – When possible, try to schedule vacations and appointments outside of school hours or during breaks.

  • Check in with your child – Talk about what they’re learning and what they’re excited (or even anxious) about in school. Staying engaged can make a big difference.

  • Reach out if you need support – If there’s something making attendance hard for your family, please let us know. We’re here to help.

Attendance Goal Update:

As mentioned in previous communication, we have a very important attendance goal for this school year. We are currently at 79% of all students attending school 90% of the time. Our goal is to have 90% of all students attending school 90% of the time. That is a 3% increase!

Librarian

Dear Trentwood Families,

The year is quickly coming to a close and the library will soon begin preparing for summer. The last day to check out books will be May 23. All books will be due back to the library by May 30th for end of year inventory. Please remember how important it is for children to read for pleasure during the summer holiday. While Trentwood's library is closed, we have an amazing public library system full of wonderful books to borrow and audiobooks to listen to. Thank you for all of your support for our student readers throughout the year. Happy reading!
