Principal's Letter

Dear Trent Families,

Our desire as a staff is to partner with families in their student’s education. To do this, it takes meeting formally at times for us to highlight all the great successes.

Coming up the week of March 25th, our family-teacher conferences will provide a wonderful opportunity for families and teachers come together as partners to share insight and information related to academic and social growth. We are looking forward to the opportunity to meet with families and share your student’s success. Here are a few things to remember

·      Families are encouraged to come in and enjoy the book fair set-up by our amazing Librarian, Mrs. Taylor.

·      We encourage attendance of the participating students only. We know that you all have extenuating circumstances, but conferences can be distracting with little ones.

·      Be sure and sign-up as soon as you can! Find your students class below and click the link to sign up.

We look forward to seeing you all in the near future!

Brandon Dunn, Principal

Counselor's Corner!!

Hi Trent Knights!

As winter is going to change into spring, you find yourself asking, Could my student use more structure and routine? As children are growing it’s so important to give them structure and routine. This includes establishing bedtimes and wake up times. But why?

  • Coping Skills: Routines and consistency offer children reassurance especially in difficult or stressful situations. Having a routine can help children cope with challenges.

  • Success: Having a routine helps children develop healthy habits, responsibility, and learn time management.

  • Independence: Routines and structure gives children confidence in knowing what to expect. As they become more successful with their routines they gain further confidence and fosters independence.

  • Cognitive Development: Children need sleep and regular meals to be able to focus, think, read, learn, remember, and reason. When children receive consistent sleep (9-10 hours per night) and regular meals it allows for healthy brain development

We are continuing with small groups for students. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is an area you would like your child to get extra assistance with. We are also continuing to work on the Wax Museum with 6th graders where they are choosing a career to explore and do their project on. They will have the opportunity to present their career project at the end of the year during the Wax Museum.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
