Principal's Letter

Dear Trent Families,

Last week you should have seen your student bring home a World’s Finest Chocolate sales sheet. This year, our Associated Student Body (ASB) is having a fundraiser to help build the coffers in our ASB account to potentially purchase playground equipment. While we know fundraisers can be a tricky and awkward activity for your student to participate in. However, there are some great life-lessons to be learned from doing it. Please encourage your Trent Knight to help our ASB by going out and selling chocolate. Not to mention, the top students can earn a 5lb chocolate bar and a pizza party for their class.

Coming up the last week of March is our parent-teacher conference week. This is a great opportunity to see a later-in-the-year snapshot of how your student is doing. Please partner with us by signing up for a conference. Sign-ups will be coming out the week of the 11th and conference week starts Monday, the 26th.

Have a great week and “Go Knights”.

Brandon Dunn, Principal

Counselor's Corner!!

Hi Trent Knights!

As winter is going to change into spring, you find yourself asking, Could my student use more structure and routine? As children are growing it’s so important to give them structure and routine. This includes establishing bedtimes and wake up times. But why?

  • Coping Skills: Routines and consistency offer children reassurance especially in difficult or stressful situations. Having a routine can help children cope with challenges.

  • Success: Having a routine helps children develop healthy habits, responsibility, and learn time management.

  • Independence: Routines and structure gives children confidence in knowing what to expect. As they become more successful with their routines they gain further confidence and fosters independence.

  • Cognitive Development: Children need sleep and regular meals to be able to focus, think, read, learn, remember, and reason. When children receive consistent sleep (9-10 hours per night) and regular meals it allows for healthy brain development

We are continuing with small groups for students. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is an area you would like your child to get extra assistance with. We are also continuing to work on the Wax Museum with 6th graders where they are choosing a career to explore and do their project on. They will have the opportunity to present their career project at the end of the year during the Wax Museum.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
