CTE Exploration Night

Please mark your calendars for February 12, 2024, from 5-7pm at East Valley High School! East Valley’s CTE teachers from both the middle school and high school will be hosting a CTE Exploration Night. Each teacher will have a booth where they have created a hands-on event displaying the learning that is occurring in their classrooms. This evening of exploration will be used as a recruiting opportunity to get students excited about the middle and high school CTE programs being offered. The event will be open to our families and potential families/students to showcase our CTE programs. Please join us!

A Knight at the Auction

East Valley High School’s Booster Club is holding its annual dinner and auction on March 9th at the Spokane Valley Event Center (10514 E Sprague Ave). Along with the dinner, there will be a silent auction, live-auction, games, and a whole lot of fun all in the name of supporting our Knights. To purchase your tickets, click here. Hope to see you at A Knight at the Auction!

Balanced Calendar

In Washington State, a traditional school year for students consists of 180 days broken up by a winter break, spring break and summer break. In East Valley, we also have a mid-winter break. Unlike many districts, we also have a school (CCS) that has long utilized a “year-round” calendar.

As you might be aware, the idea of a more “balanced calendar” is a topic of conversation in communities and districts across the state. As such, there are many ways in which school districts are thinking of and/or are stretching the calendar.

The East Valley calendar committee will be meeting in the near future to come up with calendar options for employees to vote on. The committee IS NOT and WILL NOT be considering a calendar that mirrors the year-round at CCS. However, we will be discussing, and considering, whether or not to present calendars that include more breaks (more long weekends). We will be meeting soon and thought it would be a good idea to seek thoughts and input from families and students. As such, we invite and encourage you to respond to this quick survey by clicking here.

Mid Winter Break

It’s hard to believe our mid-winter break is two short weeks away, or in the case of CCS, one short week away! We have also rounded the halfway point for the school year. In some ways, it has flown by, and in other ways (or days) it has felt like a long year. I hope whatever you have planned with your families, whether it’s getting away or taking time to relax, that you enjoy the break.
