East Valley Parent Partnership
Sheila began her career with the East Valley School District over 25 years ago in 1999! She started teaching her own three children in 1980. The homeschool movement in Washington was growing, and her homeschool group was instrumental in navigating the current homeschool law. She has two daughters and one son, who are all entrepreneurs and business owners, so she believes homeschooling does work well.
Some of Sheila’s students at Parent Partnership have been with her from kindergarten through graduation.
Sheila has 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 2 more on the way! She attends a wonderful church in Liberty Lake in which she is actively involved.
Why she loves Parent Partnership: “I often say that EVPP is the best kept secret in education. Schools strive to have parental involvement in education, and here parents are an equal component with teachers, students and parents.”
Why she chose East Valley: Sheila started subbing in six districts when she graduated from Whitworth after eleven years with her homeschooling experience. The teachers and staff at Trent Elementary became great mentors and friends to her. She had several long-term sub jobs at Trent before getting hired as the first teacher for the East Valley Parent Partnership that started in 2006. It was a half-time position to start, but the school has now grown to over 200 students with six certified teachers.
Favorite part of her job: She really loves being a part of the student's long-term educational journey.
Fun fact: Sheila moved to Otis Orchards in 2012, and has 2 horses, 4 cats… and no mice! She has a huge vegetable garden and orchard, and loves living here!
Three words to describe her: Visionary – Driven – Compassionate
Sheri Repogle is not only an exceptional educator, she is a representation of what EVSD aspires to be. She is driven by a core belief that ALL students can learn. She lives this out each and every day by meeting all students where they are at and pushing them to reach their goals. Her learning experiences are rigorous, and her expectations for her students are sky high. Sheri’s students consistently rise up to meet her expectations and are leaders in our school community.
Sheri teaches in a Designed Instruction classroom, serving some of East Valley’s most impacted students. Her students face a variety of challenges, but Sheri sees these challenges as opportunities. Rather than focusing on what her students can’t do at the moment, she creates ways for her students to participate in every aspect of middle school life. Whether it is learning the same science topics as their peers, winning school spirit competitions, or cutting a rug at the school dances, Sheri ensures that her students get the full Middle School experience.
Sheri is a thoughtful, caring educator and colleague who always thinks of others before herself and goes above and beyond each school year. She has served as a mentor, a friend, and an instructional resource for all of the Middle School staff, but that might not be her most important contribution to our building’s culture. Her insistence that every student can learn, regardless of their circumstances, has been contagious and sets the high mark for staff to aspire to.
We are so proud to recognize Sheri as East Valley's Gem of the Valley as she stands out in all areas as an educator… and human.
Earlier this year, Mr. Steve Pointer announced his upcoming retirement. Steve has given 35 years of his life to public education with the last 12 being spent at the helm of CCS. We are grateful for his service and commitment to East Valley and the CCS Community. Congratulations, Steve; we wish you and the Pointer Family well.
With this announcement comes the opportunity to announce the next leader. Last month, the East Valley School Board approved the hiring of Mr. Ben Gilsdorf. Ben is a current Assistant Principal at Hallett Elementary School in the Medical Lake School District. Ironically, Mr. Gilsdorf began his educational career at CCS as a teacher from 2012 - 2014. He is very excited to return to his Dragon roots.
Welcome home, Mr. Gilsdorf!

Over the past month and a half, Spokane County Parks has been surveying local community leaders and representatives to better understand the population's needs and identify the most pressing issues related to park facilities and access.
They are now entering the second phase of their information-gathering process with a new survey. This survey consists of 30 questions designed to gather insights about park users, including barriers to access, desired facility upgrades, and typical park usage.
Spokane County Parks would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete the survey and help provide valuable information about the needs of our community.
