East Valley has entered into a contract with Enterprise Fleet Management for procurement and maintenance of future district vehicles; this does not include school buses. Currently, the average age of district maintenance vehicles is at approximately eighteen years. These vehicles include our trucks, plows, sprayers, box trucks, etc. After a thorough investigation, including discussions with other regional agencies, we determined this to be the best route for East Valley. Enterprise will use the district's statewide purchasing agreement to find the lowest possible cost for each vehicle leased. Expected to be replaced first are the two security vehicles as they are often used to transport students. Vehicle replacement will occur over time based on prioritization of need. At the conclusion of each vehicle's lease agreement, we have the option of purchasing the vehicle outright or having Enterprise sell on behalf of the district with all proceeds generated to come back to East Valley for future purchases. Enterprise makes its money on the interest rate, not the vehicle's value. Additionally, the maintenance of all vehicles purchased through Enterprise is calculated into the cost. The safety of our students and staff will always be our top priority; it is well past the time to upgrade many of our vehicles to provide services within our school community.
